The first thing you'll notice about the Vanguard Talon, aside from Weatherby's legendary fit and finish, is the stock. The Talon is equipped with a carbon fiber Peak 44 Blacktooth stock, the same stock we use on the Backcountry Ti 2.0. To help reduce the recoil on this ultra-light set up, the stock features Peak 44's 3DHEX recoil pad and threaded Accubrake ST.

The Talon was purpose-built to bring the lightweight features of the Backountry 2.0 family into the Vanguard line-up. It features Peak 44's Blacktooth carbon fiber stock which weighs only 19oz making it one of the lightest production stocks on the market. Compared to other Vanguards the Talon cuts out over a full pound of weight and starts at 6.2lbs. Equipped with an Accubreak and 3D Hex Recoil pad, the Talon manages recoil extremely well even with Weatherby's historic magnum cartridges. This is the rifle you want 10 miles from the truck and you have to make the shot count.

Vanguard barrels are cold hammer forged which makes them much more accurate and reliable than other rifles in their price range. To back this up, all Vanguards are guaranteed to shoot a 3-shot group of .99‚Äö√¢ or less at 100 yards (SUB-MOA) from a cold barrel when used with Weatherby factory or premium ammunition. The Vanguard Talon a 3-position safety, two-stage match grade trigger, and fluted bolt body. All Vanguards have a one-piece machined bolt body and a fully enclosed bolt sleeve. They also sport an integral recoil lug and hinged floorplate.
