Marce is an emerging South African Artist and she has been awarded as a Top 25 Finalist in the ARTi Gallery Art Competition 2023!  

About this piece: 

I enjoy art of a darker nature and when I discovered one of my favourite artists painted a skull with a cigarette as a joke, it became one of my favourite artworks. My style is realism, so this was truly an inviting challenge. 

About the Artist: 

Art has been one of my greatest loves since I can remember, I was putting pencil to paper before I could walk and I have never put the pencil down. 

I was fortunate enough to have an artist as a mother as well as an excellent school that put art as one of its top priorities, diving deep into the rich history of art. Surrealism became a source of inspiration, Impressionism was food for my soul, realism produced by Chuck Close is what I aspire to achieve, and Baroque fuels my creativity. 

I studied graphic design in Potch for two years where I met incredibly talented artists and experienced a community that made me realize that artists are essential in bringing beauty to the world, and I want to be part of that. I have been selling art and doing commissions, especially portraits, for more than 16 years and my art was sold in a small gallery in Parys. 

I have no definitive style (yet), I love all forms of art and I have put paint to canvas, thread through needle, ink into skin, fire to metal and so much more. I love exploring the different forms of art and combining them to create something truly unique. 

My dream was to be an artist, and an artist I became. My goal is to become an international artist and an inspiration to people who can use art as an expression of themselves as well as a voice for others.
