Soms heb je niet veel nodig om je look net dat beetje extra te geven. Een klein hartje, een mooie kleur en een comfortabele oorsteker die je de hele dag kan dragen. Lilou is precies dat. MINI hartjes oorstekers in een stralende magenta tint, gemaakt om je outfit op te vrolijken zonder dat het te opvallend wordt. Het is lief, speels en toch stijlvol. Een klein detail dat je elke dag opnieuw met plezier aandoet.

Magenta is zo’n kleur die meteen energie geeft. Ze is warmer en krachtiger dan klassiek roze, en daardoor voelt ze net wat volwassener aan. Lilou is perfect als je houdt van kleur, maar het wel subtiel wil houden. Met een formaat van ongeveer 1,7 cm bij 1,5 cm zijn deze hartjes klein genoeg om comfortabel te blijven, maar groot genoeg om gezien te worden. Ze passen bij een basic outfit (denk: wit, zwart, denim, beige), maar zijn ook prachtig bij andere kleuren als je graag combineert.

Zoals al mijn oorbellen wordt Lilou 100% met de hand gemaakt in mijn atelier in Anzegem. Ik werk op een basis van zwart acryl en bouw de kleur zorgvuldig op zodat de magenta tint mooi en levendig uitkomt. Daarna werk ik ze af met UV-hars. Die glanzende laag zorgt voor een mooie, gladde finish, geeft extra diepte aan de kleur en beschermt het oppervlak zodat je oorstekers lang mooi blijven. Het resultaat is een paar mini’s dat er strak en verzorgd uitziet, met een glans die je vooral in het licht ziet.

En natuurlijk: comfort is key. Acryl is super lichtgewicht, waardoor je Lilou nauwelijks voelt zitten. Ideaal als je graag elke dag oorbellen draagt, ook op lange dagen. En ook als je gevoelige oren hebt, zit je goed. De oorstekers zijn gemaakt van hypoallergeen RVS, wat helpt om irritatie te vermijden en zorgeloos te dragen.

Lilou is perfect als klein cadeautje voor jezelf, of voor iemand die houdt van hartjes en kleur. Subtiel genoeg voor elke dag, maar met genoeg persoonlijkheid om je look net wat vrolijker te maken. Een mini hartje, een magenta glow, en een paar oorstekers dat je altijd opnieuw wil dragen.

So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

This is a promising, fantastic beginning to what will be a 4-book series. Some readers may be content to read only the first 2 books, but I think you'll find that the story is so good that you'll want to keep reading books 3 and 4. Book 1 is about omega Elvana's introduction to the "Starling" brothers and their search for another missing person, Kelly. It's a bit of a rocky start, with deception and betrayal a key element. Hardly an auspicious beginning. Each member has their own path and purpose in the pack. Their interactions and the resulting narrative are so well-written that I found it difficult to put down. There is a cliffhanger that will have you reaching for book 2 as you finish, so make sure you have it on hand.

I'm not really into mafia books but I love Roxy Collin's other series so I decided to give it a try. It had the same great romance, spice, swoon-worthy characters and exciting plot that are her signature. There were almost too many twists/layers of lies to keep track of but I'm looking forward to reading the other books. It was mentioned that Kelly is a female and male at different points, leading me to think she changed her mind at some point about the character's gender but didn't go back and edit it to align in all places. Like another reviewer pointed out, step siblings are different than half siblings. They are incorrectly referred to as step siblings because they (allegedly) share the same biological dad. There are a few other typos as well but those aren't a big deal.
