Maison Ackerman uit Saumur is de oudste specialist in Loire-bubbels, opgericht in 1811. Royal is hun historische cuvée, gecreëerd door Louis-Ferdinand Ackerman in 1882, met een stijl die draait om finesse, romige mousse en een herkenbare mineraliteit. Wijngaarden en regio

De druiven komen uit Frankrijk, Loire, uit het Saumur-gebied rond de commune Le Puy-Notre-Dame. De ondergrond is kalk en kleikalk, met meerdere percelen op een kalksteen substraat dat de frisse, zilt-minerale toon versterkt. Handmatige pluk en strenge selectie vormen de basis, met focus op zuiver fruit en spanning in het glas.

Vinificatie en rijping

Traditionele methode met tweede gisting op fles. De trossen worden in hele trossen geperst, zonder ontstelen, om extractie te beperken. Alleen het eerste deel van het perssap, het vin de goutte, gaat in deze cuvée. Daarna volgt 36 maanden rijping sur lattes in de historische kalkgrotten van Ackerman. Serveer op 6–8 °C. Restzoet ligt typisch rond 5–6 g/L, passend bij de brut-stijl.

Chardonnay – Le Puy-Notre-Dame
Geeft spanning, citrus en finesse.

Chenin Blanc – Le Puy-Notre-Dame
Zorgt voor ruggengraat, zuren en lengte.

Cabernet Franc – Le Puy-Notre-Dame
Voegt kruidige nuance en structuur toe.

Proefnotities en serveertips

Bleekgeel met lichte gouden schakering en een verfijnde mousse. In de geur gele vruchten, subtiele kruidigheid en tonen van gedroogd fruit en citruszest. De smaak is levendig en precies, met een mooie balans tussen rijpheid en frisse zuren, en een zuivere, verkwikkende afdronk. Schenk op 6–8 °C als aperitief of bij tartaar van sint-jakobsschelp, schaal- en schelpdieren of frisse zachte kazen.
