Een Portugese rode wijn met kracht en historie – diep, zwoel en karaktervol. In het glas donker robijnrood met een bijna zwarte kern. Afkomstig van de zandrijke kustbodems van Setúbal, waar de Castelão-druif zijn meest geconcentreerde expressie geeft.

De neus is rijk en gelaagd: rijpe pruimen, zwarte kersen en bramen, gevolgd door tonen van cacao, koffie en warme specerijen. Subtiele hints van toast en hout geven extra diepgang, zonder het fruit te overheersen.

In de mond vol en fluweelzacht, met een mondvullende structuur en rijpe tannines. Donker fruit en chocoladeachtige tonen worden mooi ondersteund door kruidigheid en een lichte rokerigheid. De wijn heeft kracht, maar blijft soepel en toegankelijk, met een lange, warme afdronk waarin specerijen en houttonen blijven nazinderen.

Een wijn met body en diepte, gemaakt voor stevige gerechten: gegrild rood vlees, stoofschotels of kruidige gerechten uit de mediterrane keuken. Tegelijk ook een wijn om rustig van te genieten – krachtig, zwoel en typisch Portugees.

flawed and sweet

While the premise of the book was endearing, it quickly felt under-researched and over-represented. Giving characters mental health diagnoses while describing only surface level or self-diagnosed criteria makes the characters feel stereotypical and under-developed. The manic-like decision making of one of the main characters is often used as a plot point, making it feel like a gimmick to blame the character’s “neurodivergence”. Had there been better research and understanding into mental health diagnoses, and less stereotypically representation, it would have been easier to enjoy. Aside from that I liked the premise of the plot and found the build of found family, friendship, and love to be sweet.
