De grootvader van Michael Ignatieff streed voor verbetering van hun positie en was onder meer minister en gouverneur van Kyiv. De familie Ignatieff had generaties lang veel macht en invloed en leefde in het tsarenrijk in grote welvaart. Begin vorige eeuw vluchtten Pavel en Natasja en hun kinderen tijdens de Russische revolutie en kwamen na vele omzwervingen volkomen berooid in Engeland aan. Net als hun vriend Vladimir Nabokov sloten ze zich niet aan bij de theedrinkende en klagende Russische elite in ballingschap en begonnen een boerenbedrijf zoals ze ook Kroepodernitsa in Oekraïne hadden, maar dan zonder een stoet aan personeel. ‘Niemand die ik ken woont in het huis waarin ze geboren zijn, of zelfs maar in het dorp of de stad waar ze ooit kinderen waren,’ schrijft Michael Ignatieff als hij met behulp van dagboeken en foto’s in een oud familiealbum en vooral met grote historische kennis en inlevingsvermogen het leven zijn Russische voorouders ontrafelt. Deze aangrijpende en intieme familiekroniek neemt de lezer mee van Petersburg naar Constantinopel, van de Franse Rivièra naar de Kaukasus, van Kyiv naar Londen en van Oekraïne naar Canada.

This 8-piece set of floating shelves from RICHER HOUSE is a fantastic way to add both style and extra storage. The design is sleek and minimalist, giving the illusion that the shelves are floating. The set comes in a variety of sizes, which is great for creating a custom arrangement. The quality is good; the boards are sturdy and the included hardware feels solid. Holds ETBs and booster packs.
Includes stronger knockoff anchors, though I I didn't even use them since the stuff I placed on top is light weight.
Shelfs are made of MDF with a nice durable melamine finish. Keep in mind due to its width it does not have 16" OC holes.
