Hoe komt in Fransman verzeild in Spanje? Vrij makkelijk, als je stage kan lopen bij een van de beste wijnmakers uit het land namelijk Telmo Rodriguez dan sla je dat uiteraard niet af! Hier heeft Olivier enorm veel geleerd en is begonnen te bouwen aan zijn eigen wijnhuis wat inmiddels al zon 11 hectare beslaat. Onder andere tijdens zijn werkzaamheden bij het befaamde Domaine Leroy heeft Olivier geleerd zijn wijnen naar stijl van het perceel te maken zoals het ook werkt in de Bourgogne. De witte wijnen zijn lekker bourgondisch en rijp de rode wijnen karaktervol met veel fruit, precisie, spanning en een grote complexiteit.
La Bastid bestaat voornamelijk uit Viura met een klein deel Malvasia en Grenache blanc een selectie van 9 kleine percelen in Rioja Alavesa met een klei en leem terroir. Vergist en gerijpt voor 50% in beton en 50% op Frans hout van verschillende grootte voor 8-10 maanden. Een rijke romige stijl met fijne zuren tonen van perzik, gele appelen toast. Licht zilt en kruidig een heerlijk glas wijn volgens Olivier zijn Côte de Nuits blanc uit Rioja!

Why are these books so hard to find in libraries and bookstores??!

Bought nearly the whole book series after reading the reviews. My 8 and 10 year old boys love these books. My 10 year old read the first book on his way to and from soccer practice. He couldn't put it down and kept telling me what he read. My boys have read all the "Magic Treehouse", "I Survived" and some "I Escaped" books, as well as "Big Nate", "Diary of a Wimpy Kid", etc. BUT these battle books are the best. They really teach about the history of the wars which have shaped our modern times. WHY are these books so hard to find in libraries and bookstores... at least in Maryland? Maybe because "Great Battles for Boys" reeks of toxic masculinity? I really wonder. In any case, great books especially if you want your boys to read serious, informative books that are interesting and entertaining.

Great for boys AND MOMS

Saw an ad for the series online and wanted to buy just one book to try. Received with 2 day Prime. Book was new. So, not only does this book have an incredible, intriguing story that sucked in my 10 year old who hates reading and struggles to read, it had me at Hello. The beginning of the book is filled with recipes! Was totally not expecting that! So for this Momma, under promise-over deliver was the theme here. Purchasing the rest of the books! Also look online for worksheets that parents have put together to go along with these books. Totally worth it. Happy Reading! AND Cooking!

Great reads for all levels
Format: Paperback
I bought 2 for a 6th grade boy I tutor. He has a beginning interest in history. He's been 'eating' these books up! These are well written, but not complex to turn a young reader off. There are many alternative resources to listed to dive into if a particular person or event sparks interest with the reader. There is appropriate vocabulary with explanations on some- others open a chance for my student & I to have a deeper discussion to clarify meaning & connect information.

Great book for an (almost) 11 year old to learn about WW2
Format: Paperback
My (almost) 11 year old says he enjoyed this book because it gives specific details and has pictures of what was going on making it easy to understand what was happening. The only thing he’d change was that the pictures weren’t in color (lol)!
