This remarkable book by the outstanding English military historian of his generation seeks to bring to life the individual behind the heroic figure of the Blenheim tapestries. It examines the springs of motive and the influence of upbringing that went to produce the one European of the era able to dim the glory of the Sun King, and by so doing to deflect the course of history. The emphasis of the narrative lies throughout on the character and personality of John Churchill, First Duke of MarIborough, rather than on the general historical events of his life. By focusing on Marlborough's own reactions - to failure and success, to difficulty and disappointment, to the hazards of battle and political intrigue - the author presents him as his contemporaries and intimates knew him, in his roles of commander, diplomat, colleague, husband and father. A leading theme of the book is the Duke's relationship with his wife Sarah, both as an aspect of his personal nature fascinating in itself and also because of its significance to his career. The course of Marlborough's war leadership is narrated with the clarity, color, pace and immediacy with which the author made his reputation in The Desert Generals and The Swordbearers, avoiding detailed technicalities, yet rendering Marlborough's talents and achievements explicable in terms of the military art of his time. The background of the book is the Europe of the early i70os, an immensely exciting era, brilliant with new ideas, turbulent with rivalry and ambition, splendid with great architecture such as Blenheim Palace, the memorial of Marlborough's triumphs. For England it was the time of her rise to national greatness: a greatness resting equally on seapower, on commercial success and on her victorious armies on the continent of Europe. Throughout the book the contrast is made between this buoyant England, more and more Parliamentary in its government, prizing the liberty of the subject above the authority of monarchs, and the all-embracing autocratic State apparatus of Louis xiv's France which, under Marlborough's leadership, England fought and defeated.Illustrated with 32 pages of color plates and some 120 illustrations in monochrome from contemporary sources and from photographs especially taken for the book by Jeremy Whitaker and Derrick Witty.

Really amazing suit that looks like a million bucks!
Size: Large, Color: Black
This is the second suit we bought by Lupurty. The first was dark navy and fit so well and looked so good that we got one in black for our son’s wedding!

Disgusted!
Size: Small, Color: Black
I’m disgusted! I ordered this for my boyfriend to wear to prom. I ordered him a small and the jacket and the vest were not smalls, they look like they were a large. All three pieces had dog or cat hair on them and the jacket had dirt stains on the inside. They were all used! And some of the stitching was coming out! I’m so glad I received it the same day I bought it, because if received it closer to prom I would have been so screwed!!! Do not buy this or buy from this brand! Terrible product!!

Dress to Impress: Sharp, Tailored Fit, Quality Material, and Sizing Tips
Size: X-Small, Color: Navy Blue, Size: X-Small, Color: Navy Blue
This review is for the LUPURTY Men's Suits Slim Fit, 3 Piece Suits for Men, 2 Buttons Solid Jacket Vest Pants, Tuxedo Set (XS navy blue and black sets).
I bought the XS knowing my son's measurements were actually below the size guide for that size, but I'm glad I did because it still worked out. The suit was a bit big—especially in the pants, which were quite long, and slightly roomy in the shoulders and arms—but it still looked sharp and well put-together. The overall fit has a clean, tailored appearance despite the extra room. The material feels high-quality and the color is true to what’s shown online. I do wish the black suit came with a black or gray tie instead of blue, which didn’t quite match.
The suit in the photos is the navy blue set that my son wore to his 8th grade graduation, which matched their school colors perfectly.
I also included my son’s measurements to help others with sizing:
Weight 114 lbs
Height 5'3"
Chest 30.5"
Waist 29"
Hip 35"
Sleeve length 21.5"
Shoulder 17"
Inseam 29"
Back length 18.5"

Sharp and Expensive Quality Tuxedo for special events!!
Size: Small, Color: Black
I researched for several tuxedos for my son's prom, we chose this one, and I'm very glad that we did! The fit is nice, the durability is great. Very classy looking! The quality is really surprising for this price, it looks like a $200 dollar suit. My son is very picky and was very pleased with this tuxedo. The seams are very good and all the buttons are correct. We did receive the tie and everything that was supposed to be with it as I know reviews were saying they didn't get certain things but we did. I really like the adjustable waste because my son is very slim, but tall and has a long torso. This Tuxedo allowed him to be super excited that we have everything we need for his first prom! True to color as we purchased the black and it is sharp!

Impressive suit for the price
Size: X-Large, Color: Navy Blue
Order suit in my normal size (44R) and it fit perfectly. I’m 6’1” and the pant length set at the correct level. Quality fabric and stitching is well finished. Pants are comfortable at the waist with enough flex to be forgiving.
Very good deal for the price…suit, vest and tie.
