Buffalo Tom (Bill Janovitz, Chris Colbourn en Tom Maginnis) werd opgericht aan de Universiteit van Massachusetts in Amherst in 1984 - een broedplaats van post-punkgitaarbands als Dinosaur Jr. en Pixies. Sinds de release van Birdbrain 30 jaar geleden zijn veel nummers van het album live-favorieten geworden, waaronder het epische titelnummer "Birdbrain" en "Enemy". Buffalo Tom blijft muziek maken, hun meest recente album Quiet and Peace kwam uit in 2018.
