In 2003 kwam een langgekoesterde droom van het Britse koppel uit in de vorm van Domaine Begude. Het wijngoed ligt aan de uitloper van de Pyreneeën en is meerdere malen door de internationale wijnpers bekroond. De wijnbouw is volledig biologische en er wordt daardoor hard gewerkt om de beste druiven te oogsten. Het landgoed heeft 72 hectare waarvan er 29 beplant zijn met druivenstokken. Op een hoogte van 350 meter genieten de wijngaarden van het perfecte klimaat. De temperatuur daalt namelijk in de nacht behoorlijk wat het warme weer overdag weet te compenseren. Dat levert uiteindelijk druiven op met mooie zuren. De Pinot Noir druiven worden met de hand geoogst, waarna een strenge selectie volgt. De druiven worden vervolgens ontsteeld en geperst en voorbereid voor de fermentatie. Na de gisting rijpt de wijn tot slot 12 maanden in eikenhouten vaten. In deze periode kan de wijn ontwikkelen tot een van de lekkerste Pinot Noirs uit Frankrijk.Hoe smaakt de Domaine Begude Pinot Noir?
Het lange wachten wordt beloond met deze Domaine Begude Pinot Noir. Een droge, rode biologische wijn. De wijn verrukt met zowel smaak als aroma. Opvallende accenten van rood fruit met een vleugje peper en eiken op de achtergrond. Perfect uitgebalanceerd in de mond, met een lichte structuur en volle smaak. Very nice knife set.

Got these as a Christmas present and they are a very nice set of knives. They are very sharp so be careful when taking them out of the little sleeves they come in. The wooden base is surprisingly heavy and does a great job at holding the knives without sliding around. The built in sharpener works good to fine tune the edge with just a gentle pull through the ceramic side. They also come with a lifetime warranty which is nice.

These are great knives.
Sharp as can be.
Be careful.
Wash delicately & don't put them down point first in dishwasher. Lay them down flat. The point is sharp and could bend or get bent. Point is sharp as hell and thin.

Better than what we were using.

I grew tired of going for a knife only to find that what we had were dull, pitted and bent tips. So I gathered them all up, sorted through them and threw the worst of the worst out. Discovered long ago that those expensive knife sharpeners don’t work either. So I purchased this set as a throwaway set. I’ll use them until they too have seen thier better days and then buy another set.

I wish there was an instruction manual

I chose this set because somehow other options out there involves more than 1 bread knife and less variety of other knives for some reason and I don’t eat bread. Also I know that this brand is a sister brand of Zwilling which my dad is a fan of so I’m pretty sure of the quality and the sharpness.
When I say I wish there was a manual was because
1. I’m not a chef. Nor did I take up any culinary class, so I wish there’s at least a pamphlet in the set to identify which knife does what or what people actually use them for before I use everything randomly, which also works, but I’d like to use them correctly since I bought a decent set. And yes I know I can google it. Just saying would be nice if it comes with one.
2. I wish there was a direction for the block for which knife belongs to which hole. I am pretty sure that usually the blocks would have different depths and the knives come with different lengths. So it would be great to have that indication before I mess up the tip.
All in all, it is a really nice set. It is sharp as the other reviews mentioned in their videos. Do handle with care and don’t cut yourself when you’re unpacking them. Knife is sharp.

Thinner than I expected

This set of knives just arrived and of course, brand new knives look so good. Upon closer inspection I noticed that these knives are not as heavy as the ones they are replacing (not Henckels) and the metal blades actually flex a little when torqued. I am not too thrilled with the scissors either. They also seem flimsy and don't seat all that well in their slot in the block. However, the packaging was the best I have seen in a long time. Box within a box and everything protected and wrapped separately. The wood block is heavy and beautiful. These knives were a good price and I have used Henckels before. I am sure they will do the trick and if I had wanted more heavy duty knives I would have forked over more money for a set.
Edit: I am returning these knives. The thin, flexing blades just are not going to work for me. And the scissors are just too flimsy. I honestly expected better from this company.
