These distant locations offer significant rewards but require additional effort, such as building branchlets to expand delivery options.

This edition builds on the original Rails to the North expansion with several enhancements: dual-layered player boards, a revised game board with new rail paths, updated medium town tiles, new objective cards, modified building tiles 13a-13b, and new solo-mode materials for Sam. Additionally, a new breed of orange cows has been introduced. Note that this expansion requires Great Western Trail 2nd Edition to play.
