It has been ebonized and finished with a lustrous French polish of museum quality. The original brass hardware and gilt brass trim can be found throughout. This chest supports an intact veined Carrara marble slab top, also original. This chest is in very nice antique condition with only minor surface wear consistent with age and use. The photos accurately depict the condition.
