Description

Pastoral Theology: Theological Foundations for Who a Pastor is and What He DoesWhile many pastoral ministry books focus on the practical duties of the pastor, few works actually consider how theological truth defines the pastors role and responsibilities. These pragmatic ministry tools, though instructionally beneficial, essentially divorce biblical doctrine from ministerial practice. As a result, pastors lives and ministries often lack the theological roots that provide the stability and nourishment necessary to sustain them.

While many pastoral ministry books focus on the practical duties of the pastor, few works actually consider how theological truth defines the pastor’s role and responsibilities. These pragmatic ministry tools, though instructionally beneficial, essentially divorce biblical doctrine from ministerial practice. As a result, pastors’ lives and ministries often lack the theological roots that provide the stability and nourishment necessary to sustain them. Pastoral Theology constructs a theological framework for pastoral ministry that is biblically derived, historically informed, doctrinally sound, missionally engaged, and contextually relevant. By using traditional theological categories the authors explore the correlation between evangelical doctrine and pastoral practice. Through careful theological integration they formulate a ministry philosophy that defines the pastoral office and determines its corresponding responsibilities in light of theological truth. The authors provide a theological understanding of the pastorate that will equip aspiring pastors to discern and pursue their calling, challenge younger pastors to build on ministerial truth instead of ministerial trends, and inspire seasoned pastors to be reinvigorated in their passion for Christ and his church.

______________

“As a pastor for forty years, never have I seen a greater need for pastors to be grounded in a divine understanding of ministry than in an age when people are more concerned with the length of a sermon than its depth; the humor of a pastor rather than his holiness; and that church should be more about creative thinking than about communicating truth. Every pastor and everyone desiring to become one should read this tour de force which will move all ministers to be connected to a holy God and more committed to a holistic ministry, which are the only things that give all pastoral work ultimate meaning.” James Merritt, Senior Pastor, Cross Pointe Church, Duluth, GA

The way music should be played
Style: R-S202BL, Configuration: w/o Wire and Plug
First, I am an audiophile and have a $25K audio/video setup in our theater room. I bought this receiver for our bedroom when the old AVR we were using finally died. The Yamaha R-S202BL is a great 100w, no frills, stereo receiver. Beautiful, pure stereo music reproduction with no surround decoders/sound field programs to ruin audio reproduction. Old school Treble, Bass, and Balance controls on the remote (love it!). Bluetooth connected to our phones in seconds and works flawlessly. Used an inexpensice DAC ($20) to connect TV's digital optical output to Line 1 inputs in the R-N202. It works perfectly and TV sound is great. Also use the receivers speaker B outputs to connect to a small 10" subwoofer. That also works just fine. I can't say enough good things about this little receiver. Highly recommended!

Solid unit, not showy 9thank you)
Style: R-S202BL, Configuration: w/o Wire and Plug
FAST!! shipping, complete, well packaged, excellent price for Yamaha durability. Easy hook-up, normal sized manual (thanks again!). Smile, intuitive controls. Base and treble by front-panel pots. I would have paid extra for a lighted remote.

This item was sold at a NEW price and it was CLEARLY USED.
Style: R-S202BL, Configuration: w/o Wire and Plug
Unfortunately I really didn’t get to operate this item due to the fact that it didn’t work. After I connected my speakers and plugged it in, I turned on the power switch and the lights came on, but no sound. No discredit to Yamaha, nor the item... this is on the seller. It was sold at a new price and it was clearly a used item. Upon opening the box, I noticed : 1. The power cord was wrapped with a dirty, pink hair band. 2. The unit was not in plastic like a new item. 3. The FM antenna was missing. 4. The remote had old, used batteries in it. This should not have been re-sold.

a cult that still goes on...
Style: R-S202BL, Configuration: w/o Wire and Plug
Update in 2023: I have to add that I made this ppurchase via Amazon and it arrived at me in mint condition (Amazon Renewed scheme with 90 days money back guaranteed). For hifi components, if it works for the first quarter, it will then work rest of years. Mine though opened box but mint in sense that both its cosmetics and functions work perfectly. I purchased beefier models of Yamaha same series, the As 301r and As 501r afterwards via Amazon. Other than delicacy, the AR 202 receiver's overall performance is comparable to its leveled up siblings... AR 202 has already become a legend in hifi history since 2018... Yet of course audiophile ears are more picky and won't stay still with this kit. Therefore I purchased the silvery stereo amps afterwards cux I knew prices would go up very high and it is now proven positively and more so... Grab one even if used as ye still may... The AR 202 has an extraordinarily energetic drive in stereo sound given it's the youngest brother in the family. It brought much glory to the whole brand indeed... Review in 2019: "...performs much better than the beefed up version 100v Yamaha A-S301 silver in way of responsive and agile bass, larger soundstage, impressive midrange and fine treble. no wonder it is the best selling amp in 2017 and 2018. i suppose the cult still goes on......"
