Philip Doddridge (1702-1751), pastor of a Congregationalist church in Castle Hill, Northampton, is most remembered today as a hymn-writer and author of the spiritual classic The Rise and Progress of Religion in the Soul (1745). However, Doddridge was also a leading figure in biblical education, both for pastors and children, a founder of the Sunday school movement, and a pivotal character in revival and religious reform. He served as an evangelical link between such religious leaders as Isaac Watts (1674-1748) and George Whitefield (1714-1770). The Evil and Danger of Neglecting the Souls of Men is a sermon which distills Doddridge’s care and concern for the role of the pastor, particularly, and the church, in general, in stewarding revival and evangelism. Church leaders would do well to read and take to heart the convictions bound in this volume.

______________

Philip Doddridge was born in London, England on June 26, 1702, the youngest of twenty children. He went to a non-conforming seminary instead and became an evangelical, independent church leader. At twenty-seven Doddridge began to pastor the Castle Hill congregational chapel in Northampton, England. He was to continue there for the next twenty-two years. While in Northampton Doddridge offered a theological training school to prepare young men for ministry in independent churches. Over the years Doddridge taught about 200 men, conducting classes in Hebrew, Greek, math, philosophy, Bible, and theology. Because of his many accomplishments, the University of Aberdeen conferred a Doctor of Divinity degree upon Doddridge in 1736. Doddridge was a prolific writer. His The Rise and Progress of Religion in the Soul was translated into seven languages. Doddridge also wrote over 400 hymns. He died on October 26, 1751 and is buried in the English cemetery in Lisbon.

Great Replacement
The good. A perfect fit for my left turn signal lamp. 2003 BMW 330XI. Works and looks good. Has weather seal. We will see how it stands up to the Florida rain and car washes. The bad: As you can see in the picture the right lens retainer clip came in broken, Probably damaged in shipping. No big deal I just needed the left, I'll probably just super glue it and store it as a spare. Overall I got my moneys worth and I'm happy. Product was as described and arrived on time. I will buy from this seller again.
