Wooden Spork - Biodegradable Birchwood Hybrid Cutlery

For takeaway operations, food trucks, outdoor events, and catering services requiring versatile single-use cutlery with environmental credentials, this wooden spork delivers hybrid functionality combining spoon-like scoop geometry with four fork-like tines in cost-effective birchwood construction. At 155mm length, the dual-purpose design consolidates cutlery requirements for dishes requiring both scooping and piercing actions, whilst the natural wood material biodegrades safely as an eco-friendly alternative to single-use plastic utensils increasingly targeted by regulatory restrictions.

Product Specifications

Design Configuration:
Hybrid spork geometry featuring spoon-like bowl section with integrated four-tine fork capability, enabling both scooping and piercing functions within single utensil format. The dual-purpose design addresses diverse food handling requirements from rice and noodles through to salads and composed dishes.
Material Construction:
Natural birchwood providing renewable, biodegradable material sourcing. Wood composition breaks down naturally in disposal environments, offering eco-friendly alternative to petroleum-based plastic utensils.
Dimensions:
155mm length suitable for standard takeaway and catering applications, providing adequate reach for typical food containers and portion sizes.
Packaging Configuration:
Supplied in cases of 1,000 sporks, supporting high-volume food service operations with efficient reorder intervals.
Environmental Credentials:
Biodegradable and sustainable. Natural wood material decomposes safely without environmental persistence concerns associated with plastic disposable cutlery.

Operational Advantages

  • Hybrid Functionality - Spork design consolidates spoon and fork requirements into single utensil, reducing cutlery inventory complexity and simplifying packaging decisions for diverse menu offerings.
  • Cost-Effective Provisioning - Economical birchwood construction supports high-volume operations where per-customer utensil costs impact profit margins, particularly when single spork replaces separate spoon and fork provision.
  • Natural Biodegradability - Wood composition addresses growing regulatory and consumer pressure against single-use plastics, positioning operations favourably against increasing legislative restrictions on plastic cutlery.
  • Menu Versatility - Dual scooping and piercing capability suits varied food types from rice bowls and curries requiring spoon function through to salads and pasta needing fork tines.
  • Sustainable Material Story - Renewable birchwood sourcing provides credible environmental narrative for operations targeting sustainability-conscious demographics without requiring behaviour-change investment in reusable cutlery programmes.
  • Single-Utensil Simplicity - Eliminates customer decision-making and operational complexity around spoon-versus-fork provision, streamlining packaging and reducing cutlery waste when customers take both but need only one.
  • High-Volume Efficiency - 1,000-unit case quantity supports extended service periods in busy takeaway and event catering operations whilst maintaining manageable storage footprint.

Target Applications

Ideal Service Environments: Takeaway operations, food trucks, outdoor events, festival catering, workplace canteens, and food service businesses requiring versatile disposable cutlery for diverse menu formats where spork functionality consolidates utensil requirements and biodegradable credentials address environmental positioning goals. Particularly suited for operations serving foods requiring both scooping and piercing actions—rice bowls, noodle dishes, salads, pasta, and composed meals—where single hybrid utensil eliminates separate spoon and fork provision.

Environmental and Economic Standards: The spork format delivers genuine operational efficiency beyond environmental credentials—single utensil provision reduces per-customer costs compared to separate spoon and fork supply, simplifies packaging decisions, and decreases waste when customers traditionally take multiple utensils but use only one. The birchwood construction provides practical biodegradability without requiring the infrastructure investment or behaviour change that reusable cutlery programmes demand, supporting incremental environmental improvement within existing operational frameworks.

The Coolest Timex Watch In Years
Color: Brown/Green/Tan
This is the nicest looking watch Timex has done in a long time. I have worn their Expedition watches before, usually my watch of choice for deployments, because they are basically indestructible. And if they do get scuffed or beat up, they do not cost a fortune to replace. I like the features of this particular watch. The rotating bezel is a major plus. The crystal is slightly recessed behind the bezel to protect it from scratches. And the watch is waterproof. The visibility of the dial and hands is excellent both in daylight and using the awesome Indeglow feature. The nylon fabric watchband is double layer of contrasting color and looks good. The band is stiff for a fabric band, but is surprisingly comfortable and smooth feeling on the arm. I found myself forgetting to take it off at night. I like the analog/digital combo. The digital area defaults to time. It is small and does not light up with the Indeglow. A single button press brings up the date, which is a plus. There are too many features to the tiny digital area: timers, lap, time zones, alarm, etc. With only 3 buttons to seek and set everything, it can be fiddly. Overall, this is one tough watch that is more than it has a right to be. Great value for the money at this low price point.

A classic, but you need your eyes checked.
Color: Brown/Green/Tan
Looks good for those looking for classic function over flashy. I wanted this watch for the simple analogue time but also for digital features like alarm / date / chrono. I just can't see as well as I used to. If this watch was available in the 42mm range, I'd upgrade in a second. Indiglo and water resistance is awesome as always.

Timex - NEVER stop making this watch
Color: Brown/Green/Tan
This is my 5th or 6th Expedition watch in this model. This is the best watch in the world! Why? I travel a lot and do pro bono work in various foreign countries. This watch is not fancy and you won't have anyone chopping your arm off to get a it vs what will happen to you if you have a Rolex or some fancy-smancy Swiss snob watch. You can have three time zones on this watch because there is the analog and two digital. When i travel I always keep my home time zone in T2, which is set via the international time clock to the second (easy to do). So, if I go to Joberg or Shanghai I can easily switch the analog to the local time and put T1 as the date and digital time. I hope they never stop making this watch. I went to two stores in my town and could not come close to finding it. Timex has gone to these ginchy watches that are useless and cheap. My plan is to buy two more and store them. This watch can take a real beating. I put mine on and almost never take it off. One I had lasted 10 years with two battery changes. My latest one had the dial pin pop out in my hand when I pulled on it..gently. In other cases the menu pins stopped working. In most cases under constant wear they are good for 4 years. I have looked at G-Shocks.... that watch line defines silliness to me. They are too bulky at the wrist. This Timex is simple and awesome.

Would it kill them to put in a manual? Huh?
Color: Brown/Green/Tan
This review is tentative. Good: Attractive, and less cheap looking than expected Indiglo. Enough said. Analog is legible. Decent water resistance. Nostalgic for '80s ana-digi display?? This is no Chronosport, but the layout is nice. Seems accurate so far, but quartz watches mostly are. Bad: Non intuitive setting with no manual. It's frustrating so far. Not entirely sure what the features are at this point. Can I get 24H same time zone digital sync'd w/ analog? FWIW: I replaced the strap immediately with a Maratac. Brown nylon, PVD buckle. Look perfect together, I'm chuffed. I want to like the watch, but it's making it hard.

Guess what? The watch works GREAT!
Color: Brown/Green/Tan
My previous problems with Timex were due to the thousand year battery, combined with a one or two year watchband. So, I buy a watch and wear it for a year or so till the band breaks, then throw it into a drawer and get another. At one time I had four good running watches with junk bands, in my catch all box, in the basement. One was over ten years old and still ticking merrily along! I don't get it! Is Planned Obsolescence becoming the rule of law in worldwide manufacturing organizations? Can't Timex come up with a better class of watchbands, that could match the longevity of their excellent little timekeepers? Maybe! Yes, maybe they have finally done it. My new watch has a band that is made of some kind of nylon, reinforced with, what looks like rutabaga skins, that pretty much insures that the band will last as long as the little ticking machine! Out of the box, the band was remarkably stiff. I had to bend and twist it a lot to make it pliable enough to wear. Then I had a heck of a time trying to get it safely into the band keeper! So I got a scissor and cut a little fabric off the corners on the end of the band. I figured...if the cut off parts start to fray, I can just melt them with some fire and I will be ready for another adventurous expedition to the wilds of adolph's pub! I also noticed that the watch was guaranteed waterproof down to 330 feet. I'll just take their word for that cuz there's no way in hades, I'll let anyone talk me into a trip that far south in a bunch of water! And even if the occasion did present itself, the LAST I would be worrying about, is what time it is! You know? Anyways, now that I have the watch customized to me, I am truly happy! It works well, looks Great and smells like a watch. Yup! I can recommend this gadget to anyone. Stay out of the water though! You never know what may be lurking over there behind that tree! :)
