- The stylet is designed to allow rapid reflux of CSF. The lug on the hub of the stylet indicates the position of the distal eye.
The lug also helps to easily reposition the stylet in the needle, if dural puncture fails.
- Some needles are supplied with an introducer. The spinal needle is inserted through this introducer to reduce the risks of kinking of the thin spinal needle.
