This innovative device revives an ancient fire-making technique used by indigenous peoples, utilising air compression within a hollow cylinder to ignite tinder. By placing tinder inside the plunger and pressing it down vigorously, the compressed air generates heat of up to 400°C, igniting the tinder quickly and reliably without the need for electricity or matches.
Crafted from high-quality black anodised aluminium, the Petromax Fire Plunger includes both the plunger and its body, each end featuring securely threaded caps. These caps house the tinder and lubricant necessary for smooth operation. Additionally, a firesteel is stored inside the plunger, offering an alternative sparking ignition method to ensure fire-starting success even in challenging conditions.
