This is a timely piece of writing that argues passionately and persuasively for a serious reconsideration of the great scriptural principles that under-girded the Protestant Reformation of the sixteenth century. Far from being outdated and irrelevant to the church today, Terry Johnson shows that these very principles are the essence of biblical Christianity.

Sadly, the term ‘Protestantism’ has been rendered virtually redundant by years of misuse and abuse. it is seen as being antiquated and irrelevant in this present age of open-mindedness and political correctness. But Terry Johnson demonstrates that there is a powerful strong case to be made for the church to rediscover what this ‘unpopular’ and ‘unfashionable’ term really stands for. Using the great ‘Reformation watchwords’, he focuses our attention on Scripture, Christ, faith, grace and the glory of God in all aspects of daily life. Here is a well-written book, attractively presented and full of rich Bible teaching interspersed with thrilling illustrations from church history.

______________

Author Terry Johnson makes a good case in this book for the on-going importance of the five solas of the Protestant Reformation (Sola Scriptura, Sola Gratia, Sola Fide, Solo Christo, Soli Deo Gloria). He shows how each sola preserves an important aspect of Biblical Christianity, arguing from the Bible the necessity and value of each sola. Each sola gets one chapter, except for Soli Deo Gloria, which gets 2 chapters in which Johnson shows how we must seek the glory of God in various areas of life, both private and public. This book is well written but it does take some concentration to read. However, it is not just for theology buffs or church history nerds who like Latin phrases. The solas of the Reformation are for the whole church and represent nothing more than a clear, concise summary of the essential parts of the Gospel of Jesus Christ that are being ignored, forgotten, or denied in the modern church. This book is a call to the church to return to its first love, the Lord Jesus Christ, who is lifted up and magnified when we understand and embrace in our lives the truths summarized in the five solas. Wrong size on shirt’s tag and description!
Size: 16"-16.5" Neck 36"-37" Sleeve, Color: Dark Blue, Size: 16"-16.5" Neck 36"-37" Sleeve, Color: Dark Blue
We have ordered Van Heusen dress shirts in size 16.5 neck and 36”-37” sleeves for years. This shirt’s sleeves are 2-3” too short! The shirt is tagged wrong. I ordered the same size brand and shirt in a different color and you can see the difference in the sleeve’s length in the photo! Annoyed I need to return the defective item.
