Neil Gust and Elliott Smith arrived in Portland, OR together in the summer of 1991 to start a new band with drummer/producer Tony Lash.
The pop-oriented songs of Elliott Smith were a contrast to the darker songs of Neil Gust, while both Smith's and Gust's songs touched on subjects such as anger, alienation, loneliness, and despair. Frontier Records released their albums "Dead Air" (1993) and "Cop And Speeder" (1994), as well as the "Yellow No. 5" EP (1994), after which Heatmiser moved to Caroline Records for their third and final album, "Mic City Sons" (1996).
Third Man Records is proud to now release a very special 30th anniversary edition of "Mic City Sons", remastered and reimagined as a two-LP opus containing a set of rare demos and unreleased tracks.
