ACT spring retainers utilize wraparound spring windows and thicker retainer stampings to provide spring support, reduce stress concentrations, and increase strength and reliability. Frankly, as with other printers, I thought that I could use reconditioned cartridges with this printer. The first set I purchased was not recognized, thus I have had to purchase genuine products. The cartridges, also offering good color, do not last long. It's a trade-off between cost and quality.
