Built on land originally intended to buffer the area’s Native peoples from White fortune seekers, the community instead became a major source of alcohol-related victimization.
This appalling state of affairs continued for over 115 years until a small group of intercessors called out to God for justice and transformation. In 2017 their prayers were answered when the community’s predatory alcohol vendors were shut down and replaced by a growing assemblage of life-affirming businesses, care facilities, and churches.
