Your pool filter takes care of a lot of fairly icky things. For instance, the human body sheds about 0.003 ounces of skin flakes every hour. That doesn't seem like a lot, but consider how many people use your pool and how long they're in it. That means rinsing it once per week and inspecting it to make sure the core of the filter isn't damaged. You'll also need to swap it out every one to two years for peak efficiency.
