Dans le jeu de cartes Gloom, vous faites subir à votre famille excentrique les plus grandes tragédies avant de les aider à passer au répit bien mérité de la mort. Il vous suffit de mélanger les 55 cartes transparentes incluses dans cet ensemble avec votre copie de Gloom pour ajouter de nouveaux modificateurs, événements et morts inattendus morbides, et une nouvelle famille: les artistes du Canard Noir, dont les créations se terminent toujours par un désastre.

Malheureuses Maisons ajoute de nouvelles règles pour les Mystères, Résidences, et permet à un joueur supplémentaire de jouer. La deuxième édition inclut un nouvel emballage (avec demi-jeux côte à côte), des correctifs de règles, des icônes de chronométrage, des cartes de rappel, etc. De plus, il est entièrement compatible avec le jeu et les suppléments de la première édition.
