The book undertakes in-depth studies of films, television programmes and documentaries and wanders amongst depictions of rural areas where normality, reality and conventions fall away and the landscape becomes deeply imbued with hidden, layered and at times dreamlike stories, taking in modern-day reinterpretations of traditional myth and folklore and work that has become semi-obscured from view through being unofficially available or otherwise having become partly hidden away.

It explores film and documentary hinterlands including, amongst others, the embracing of the Ôold waysÕ in The Wicker Man; John BoormanÕs creation of an otherworldly Arthurian dreamscape in Excalibur; the alternate retelling of folk legend in Robin and Marian; the unreally vivid seeming snapshots of folk rituals in Oss Oss Wee Os; the slipstream explorations of The Creeping Gardenand stories from the Ôhaunted borderlandsÕ in Gone to Earthand The Wild Heart.

The book also investigates the hauntological spectral and ÔwyrdÕ undergrowth of television, including, alongside other programmes, the unearthing of mystical buried powers in Raven; the utopian meeting of starships, pedlars and morris dancers in Stargazy on Zummerdown; teatime Cold War intrigues amongst bucolic isolation in Codename Icarus; the layering of time and myth in anthology drama series Shadows; Frankenstein-like meddling away from the mainland in The Nightmare Man; the magical activation of stone circlesÕ ancient defence mechanisms in The Mind Beyondepisode ÔStonesÕ; and the ÔAlbion in the overgrowthÕ recalibrating of mainstream television in Mackenzie CrookÕs Worzel Gummidge.

The book is released as part of the A Year In The Country project, which via the posts on its website, music and book releases has carried out a set of year long explorations of an otherly pastoralism; the flipside of bucolic dreams, the further reaches of folk music and culture, work that draws inspiration from the hidden and underlying tales of the land and where such things meet and intertwine with the lost futures, spectral histories and parallel worlds of what has come to be known as hauntology.

Format: Kindle
Collette was not voiceless in the least and to say she is by far my fave FMC of all time right now it's no understatement. Best 1st read of the year ever!! I love how possessive each of her men were and OMG Lena is the best BFF and girl could ask for! I'm pretty sure I need this gorgeous book on my shelf pronto!

Great start
Format: Kindle
I loved this book! It's funny but still deals with tough themes, like chronic illness, a serial killer on the loose, and a dash of self-harm. The guys are interesting and distinct, we don't know too much about them yet. It does end on a really terrible cliffhanger but on the bright side the next book is out and I believe the series is complete. I have enjoyed both of these authors separately and this is a great team up!

Fudge!
Format: Kindle
Titles aren’t my strong suit. Sorry not sorry. That ending has me completely frustrated book two isn’t out yet. Just throwing that out there. First thing first, this is a high school book where the lead is under 18. Yea yea she’s about month from being an adult, but I can’t say I would’ve even opened the file if I’d realized. It’s not a smut fest or anything, but there is sexual tension as each party figures out their emotions. That being said, it’s a good book. There are some troubling parts, like how the supes come into their powers at 13, but most of those are dealt with in a way that makes sense. Kian is the exception. His whole arc pisses me off, especially since no one stepped in. Reflecting back on real world situations, ten or so years ago, I can see it happening, but it still makes me sick. Which, I’m sure was the whole damn point. For the most part, Courting Darkness is a fun read. I found myself laughing along with most of the set up. By the time it started getting serious, I’d grown to like the characters enough it held an impact. I’ll be adding book two to my list for when it comes out.

Intriguing
Format: Kindle
An intriguing story that played out slowly while introducing some unique characters. The story became quite fascinating to read as these same characters provided startling revelations to their lives. As their relationships evolve, more drama and mystery is revealed adding to my fascination. I can’t wait to read more.

Outstanding Story!!!!!!!
Format: Kindle
Oh I loved this story. Sera is such an amazing, fun character. She has so much fire inside of herself. She has humor that makes you laugh with her sassy comments. The guys are fantastic. I don’t feel as if we really have gotten to know who and what they are but they are such a mix of fae. The story is extremely well written and developed. It had me pulled in and didn’t let go. There was so much action, drama, and suspense. Then we get to the ending and goodness there is so much going on. This ending was a major cliffhanger and I absolutely can’t wait to see what happens next.
