For almost a decade now, the German manufacturer Storz & Bickel has been producing what many believe to be the world's finest desktop vaporizer, the Volcano. Well now, their medicinal arm, Vapormed are selling a version which is approved in Canada both medically and by health insurance companies, which means that many medicinal patients will be able to claim back the cost under their health insurance schemes.

The Volcano Medic Complete Kit, as this approved version is known, works in essentially the same way as the original Volcano Digit. Once the device has reached your set temperature, you place your product (either dried or concentrate) inside the heating chamber which then sits on top of the Volcano Medic itself. You then simply attach your valve balloon to the top of the chamber and turn on the fan inside the Volcano Complete Kit to fill it with vapor.

Once the valve balloon is full you simply turn off the air, remove the valve balloon  from the top of the chamber and insert the mouthpiece and then finally remove the chamber from the top of the Volcano Medic Complete Kit so that any remaining goodness in the dried herb  is not cooked out of it by sitting on top of the heating element. You now have a full valve balloon of healthily vaporized herb or concentrates which you can use without having to worry about absorbing any harmful chemicals created by combustion.

There are several ways in which the Volcano Complete Kit differs crucially from the normal Volcano Digit vaporizer. The first change was made in order to comply with DIN EN 60601 which is a requirement for electronic medical devices and this meant some changes to the electronic operation of the Volcano Medic including extra isolation to some of the circuits. They have also built in a 'check valve' to the mouthpiece/valve assembly which is basically a non-return valve that stops users from exhaling into the valve balloon and this means that there is much less chance of contamination of the inside of the valve balloon.
