How Catalysts Work
Core chemical equations：
1. 2CO + O₂ → 2CO₂
2. 2C₃H₆ + 9O₂ → 6CO₂ + 6H₂O
3. 2NO + 2CO → N₂ + 2CO₂
Essential conditions for efficient operation
1. Temperature requirements:
Ignition temperature: About 300°C is required to start the reaction.
The vehicle shortens the warm-up time through a close-coupled design (close to the engine).
2. Fuel quality:
Leaded fuel will cause the catalyst to "poison" and fail, and unleaded gasoline must be used.
3. Engine health:
Misfires, burning oil and other problems will accelerate the clogging or sintering of the catalyst
When do you need a catalytic converter?

Increased fuel consumption : The three-way catalytic converter is damaged , which
directly causes high fuel consumption and reduced power. -
The exhaust gas is not up to standard : Noise, polluting the environment, annualinspection can not pass, if it is a car with a trip computer (ECU), damage will cause the oxygensensor to fail, may lead to fuel supply failure.

Decreased power : The common failure of the three-way catalytic converter is blockageand functional failure, if the blockage will cause poor exhaust and lead to insufficient power.
- Poor exhaust and odor : Acungent, smelly odor can be smelled during idle andacceleration, and exh aust gas analysis will find that the Danyang compound (NOx) seriouslyexceeds the standard, and it should be cleaned up and repaired in time.

How to choose a catalyst
