Rooted in the songwriting traditions of his home state of Texas, he is described by experts as a singer/songwriter blessed with an uncommon degree of intelligence, depth, and compassion. His 2017 album, Everything, features musicians Roscoe Beck (bass), JJ Johnson (drums), Charlie Sexton (guitars), Michael Ramos (keyboards) and David Mansfield (mandolin, pedal steel and strings), with vocal help from James House, Beth Nielsen Chapman, Bonnie Bishop, and Kelly Willis. Recorded in Austin, the collection features songs written by Smith and with collaborators House, Radney Foster, Matraca Berg, Bruce Robison, and Jay Clementi. Mary Gauthier says of the album, "Darden Smith has made a beautiful new record, filled with hope and love and heartfelt tenderness... A worthy and worthwhile fourth volume in the series
Format: Kindle
Once again, Taylor frames a critical period of the past in terms of the continent of North America and ties the US Civil War to the one occurring concurrently in Mexico and Canada's move toward Dominion. All thoughtfully told and expertly researched.

Good History Book
Format: Kindle
Twenty years that change history and the Americas. Even though the civil war ended slavery at a humongous cost, it it failed to bring social justice a d civil rights to the population of the country. It was not until 1920 that women were granted voting rights. And some problems and divisions persist nowdays.
