24bit/88.2KHz original recording made at Magister Area Studios, Preganziol (Italy) on May 2009.
Three years after her first solo album, Paola Casula's new project is finally available. With this work, the great singer from Padua definitively establishes herself as one of the great ladies of Italian pop. Thirteen unreleased tracks, specially written for her by sophisticated and refined authors such as Vittorio Matteucci, Alessandro Mozzi, Alessandro Magliarditi, Piera Fanton and Marco Strano, who also arranged all the music on the album.
We can rightfully coin the term "pop-jazz": in fact, the stylistic hallmark of the musicians accompanying Paola, all jazz players of the highest stylistic profile, is grafted onto a classic "song" structure. On this cultural substratum, a whole series of echoes, references and citations to certain 70s soul – Roberta Flack and the like – and certain 80s English pop – Prefab Sprout and the like – are then grafted.
The album closes with a tribute collectively desired by performers, authors and producer to the great season of 70s Progressive, presenting the only cover on the album: A Salty Dog by Procol Harum.
Recording, mixing and mastering, carried out at Magister Area studio by Marco Lincetto, lead to a sound result that can rightly be called sumptuous. In particular, this album stands out for its very high dynamic range, distinguishing itself from ALL other similar projects currently available on the market.
A response by Marco Lincetto to the so-called loudness war, offering with "Linfa" a unique object for lovers of absolute sound quality, in a genre – pop music – certainly mistreated by the major record companies. A more unique than rare listening opportunity for demanding audiophiles.
