Tobikanna, also called chattering, is a decorative ceramics technique. As clay is turned on a potter's wheel, a flexible piece of metal called a plane is lightly skipped over the clay to create an engraved pattern. This technique requires a high level of skill, as the pattern is easily affected by the tool, the moisture content of the clay, and the speed at which the wheel is turned.
Unlike hand-carved versions, this printed design offers the visual charm of traditional techniques at a more accessible price point — ideal for both everyday use and gift-giving. Perfect for udon, soba, katsudon, tendon, and other classic Japanese donburi dishes. Modern blue-and-white dinnerware for everyone. Material: ceramic. Microwave and dishwasher safe. Made in Japan. Please note: The color varies in contrast. There may be some imperfections such as scratches, dents, black dots, pinholes, bumps, color/shape differences and weight. - 8.25" Shallow Bowl is for pastas, salads, garden bowls and everything else. Dimensions: 8.25" diameter x 2"h.
- 5.25" Bowl is great for dips, soups and snacks. Dimensions: 5.25" diameter x 2"h.
- 4.25" Bowl can be used for dipping sauces. Dimensions: 4.5" diameter x 1.5"h.
- 3.25" Sauce Dish is designed also for sauces. Dimensions: 3.5" diameter.
