A highly relevant topic regarding immigration, borders and the shifting definitions of origin and home.Reads like a mystery story as Figueiredo cuts his way with a machete through jungles looking for headstones, travels to the exotic island of Zanzibar with its mix of Swahili, Arab, and British influences and Salig o, Goa, an original post for Portuguese maritime traders.
Figueiredo demonstrates that the tragedies specific to inter-ethnic and multiracial families nevertheless bear latent gifts for literature and culture when treated with openness, bravery and curiosity.
Family photos punctuate the book, inserted into the prose as oblique commentary and a literary device, giving the book layers of meaning and depth.
This book is the antidote to the pathological narcissism of the Karl Ove Knausgaard "Norwegian reality literature" phenomenon - a searching story with heart about the challenges of families trying to stay together despite the global pressures that continually drive them apart.
Opens the world in a book, with interesting points of colonial history and evocative descriptions woven throughout the author's poignant reflections.
We are along step-by-step in Figueiredo's journey, and are as surprised as he is by the revelations, letters, and occasional repressed memories that surface along the way.
Figueiredo is the critically-acclaimed biographer of Norway's treasured cultural icon, Henrik Ibsen, forthcoming in English with Yale University Press, 2019.
Figueiredo is currently at work on the official biography of Edvard Munch, the most identifiable Norwegian visual artist, which will likely be translated into English as soon as it is published in Norway.
In 2002, Figueiredo was awarded the Brage Prize for a biography of Johan Bernhard Hjort, the co-founder of the Norwegian Fascist Party who later became a resistance fighter and human rights lawyer.
A Stranger at My Table received one of the highest non-fiction honors in Norway, the 2016 Language Prize and was nominated for the Brage Prize that same year.

great suit for a great price
Size: 38, Color: Hot Pink
I was shocked at the quality of the material, the suit and pants feel very nice and stretchy, however the tie is a little cheap and dosent match the same color. for the price its an impressive quality. it ran a little big but i was able to return and get a smaller size in a timely manner so no big deal.

Looks good and seems to be quality product.
Size: 34, Color: Apple Green(with Tie Set)
The quality is great for the price but the size is a little off. 34 is too big and 32, the pants is little tight.

Good, but the reviews messed me up.
Size: 40, Color: Hot Pink
I like this suit. I really do. It's much better quality than I expected. Color matches what I saw on my screen. 100% worth the $70. My problem was listening to reviews. Most say fit perfect, follow their size chart. Another says their son is normally size 32 and she ordered a 38 and it fit perfect, so make sure to order 1 or 2 sizes up. My advice is go with your gut. My son is normally a size 34...I ordered a a 36 because of both their size chart and reviews. After looking at the size chart I told myself that's too big, but said no, reviews state this is perfect and it is 1 size up from what he wears. As I was ordering I was telling myself "this is going to be too big, I just know it." Guess what? I was right...and now I'm paying for these size 4XL pants to be tailored (am I stupid or is a 36 supposed to be 4xl?? I still wonder if this is my mess up). The jacket actually fit quite nicely, maybe a tad too big, but not enough to even need to tailor it. Honestly this company needs to let us pick a size for the jacket and a size for the pants, instead of it being almost a guarantee one of them will be too big.

Zero stars
Size: 30, Color: Hot Pink, Size: 30, Color: Hot Pink
I was sent this package with the item dirty. Black stains throughout as if it was worn right before selling it, which IT WAS. I found someone’s ID in the pocket and chewing gum wrapper. Never again.

Loved it.. Slim fit Prom suit!
Size: 30, Color: White
I absolutely loved this suit!! It fit my son PERFECTLY!! It’s a true slim fit like the kids like these days. I’ve bought several suits online and none of them fit like this one. They SAY slim fit but they’re not. This one was!! 👌🏽
My son is small. He’s a Junior this year and wears a size 30… it’s true to size! ❤️ He’s about 5’8” 125lbs and still had some room in the length. He would of got the length hemmed a bit cuz he likes his pants right above his ankle. If your son is taller, you might not have to hem. We ordered the white.
Unfortunately I had to return it because his girlfriend switched color schemes from pink & white to pink & black so he wore a blk suit he already had. I was tempted to still keep it because that’s how much I liked it on him. He liked it too 😩 But chances are he wouldn’t be able to fit it next year so I decided to return it.
But, I’m definitely buying this suit again next year… hopefully the other colors fit like the white one, just incase his girlfriend wants a different color.
The white was not see through. Very good quality especially for the price. I felt bad returning it… but trust me, I’ll definitely buy it again next year for homecoming/prom!!
