Overview

AVG HTCV-15F-15C-250-LF Solar Rated Non Return One Way Check Valve is spring loaded and designed to prevent the high-temperature backflow from the roof collectors present in solar hot water systems. In order to survive this high temperature working environment, the AVG check valves are constructed with lead free DR brass body, silicone seals and high temperature rated brass/stainless steel internals.

During the operation of solar hot water systems in summer, a stagnation condition can be created as the storage water tank reaches its maximum top out temperature usually around 60-70 degrees. In such stagnant conditions, the solar pump will stop water circulation and the solar roof collectors can reach 180°C in flat plate panels and 200+°C in evacuated tubes. This super heated water remains in liquid form due to the pressure in the solar hot water system and pushes down back to the water tank creating the backflow. This backflow can cause damages to the water pumps, flow meter and other components if not prevented. A standard check valve that is not solar rated will melt over time with the usual plastic internal components. A swing type check valve would create excessive flow resistance and poor seal. Rated to 250°C, the AVG HTCV-15F-15C-250-LF spring loaded solar rated check valve is perfect in such installations, offering minimal pressure drop during water pump operation and long lasting seal even in continuous high temperature environments.

The AVG solar check valve has a unique conversion feature which can change the water flow direction to suit wider ranges of installations (See the conversion instructions in the photo gallery). The AVG solar check valve can be installed in either vertical or horizontal orientations and is WaterMark Approved for compliance in Australia. The solar rated check valves can be also used in low temperature rating steam applications.

Just Right!
Format: Hardcover
Now in its second edition, this book by Terry G. Carter, J. Scott Duvall, and J. Daniel Hayes lives up to its subtitle: a hands-on approach to preparing, developing, and delivering the sermon. It strikes me as a success because of its clear value as a first textbook for someone learning how to put together a sermon. It does better than most at keeping a big-picture view as it assembles the pieces of the sermon. There are other books that, perhaps, dive deeper into the details – the works of Jerry Vines comes to mind – but this one may be “just right” for a wide array of readers. The book is divided into three parts: eight chapters on developing and preaching a sermon, three chapters on preaching the New Testament, and four chapters on preaching the Old Testament. Duvall and Hays had earlier produced a hermeneutics textbook entitled Grasping God’s Word, which is also published by Zondervan, so this book assumes an understanding of hermeneutics and goes straight into putting together a sermon after that work has been done. The first chapter introduces their 11-step sermon process. Chapter 2 covers the first five steps: grasp the meaning of the text in their town, measure the width of the interpretive river, cross the principlizing bridge, consult the biblical map, and grasp the text in our town. As you can see, they word this information in practical terms aimed at our maximum understanding. Again, they avoid being either too shallow or too deep and succeed at being “just right”. After all that wonderful help for putting the sermon together, the other two parts on the Old and New Testaments look at the genres and their unique challenges for the preacher found in each. Most of these were wonderful. The value of the chapter on preaching Revelation might correspond to your own prophetic viewpoint. Actually, they tell you that that might be the case when you preach the Book of Revelation. If you’ve been called to preach and are trying to figure out how to put a sermon together, you owe it to yourself to check this book out. I received this book free from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

Great reference
Format: Paperback
I used this reference a good but when I was new to practice in a walk-in clinic. From animal bites to corneal abrasions to toenail avulsions, it gave concise treatment recommendations that helped me through my cases. While I need to rely on it a lot less now, I did purchase this to update an older edition and I’ve been equally happy with it
