KOKUM is indigenous to India specifically in southern part/Western Ghats of India. This fruit with various medicinal benefits is also used as a key component in the spices of Indian cuisines, especially in Gujarati and South Indian dishes. It is cultivated in western coastal regions that include Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, and Kerala.
Use of KOKUM: The dried version of KOKUM is used in daily preparation in most of the Marathi, Gujarati, Konkan, Kerala and Goan cuisines. They are added to veggies, dals and curries to give it a sour taste and obviously reap its other benefits too.
