Beginning in 2009, The Museum of Modern Art offered a weekly series of film screenings titled An Auteurist History of Film. Inspired by Andrew Sarris' seminal work The American Cinema, which developed on the idea of "auteur theory" first discussed by the critics of Cahiers du Cin ma in the 1950s, the series presented cinematic works from MoMA's expansive collection with particular focus on the role of the director as artistic author. Featured works included those by D.W. Griffith, Fritz Lang, Walt Disney, Alfred Hitchcock, Akira Kurosawa, Federico Fellini, Satyajit Ray, Jean-Luc Godard, Eric Rohmer, Robert Altman, Werner Herzog, Stanley Kubrick, Martin Scorsese and many more. For the five years that the series was presented, film curator Charles Silver wrote a concise post to accompany each screening. These texts described the place of each film in the oeuvre of its director as well as its significance to wider film history. Following the end of the series' long run, the Museum has collected these posts for publication, bringing together Silver's insightful and often humorous readings of the series' films into a single volume. This volume is an invaluable guide to key directors and works of cinema as well as an excellent introduction to auteur theory.Charles Silver joined the Department of Film at The Museum of Modern Art in 1970, and has helmed the Film Study Center for the past four decades. Among his numerous exhibitions are retrospectives for Elia Kazan, Roman Polanski, John Ford, Charlie Chaplin, Joan Blondell, The Hubleys, Agnieszka Holland, Anna Mae Wong, John Wayne and Sessue Hayakawa. Thanks to his dedication to access and belief in film as the most influential art form of the 20th century, rare are the thesis papers or books written on cinema in the past 40 years that do not thank him for his expert guidance.

Nice, BUT a few mounting holes would have made it 5 stars!
Color: Black*2
These seem to be fine but since I have to use this to hold a power brick to a wood joist which is NOT smooth, the included adhesive back is not something that will hold securely! I ended up have to screw two wafer head screws through the rubber backing and into the joist to hold the holder to the wood joist securely. If they put some thought into the design, it would have been nice, if they had incorporated a few mounting holes, which would have taken care if this being mounted to items that are not smooth such as a wood joist or other rough surfaces!

Tight squeeze for a 240w but works well
Color: Black
This works pretty well. It was a little bit of a tight squeeze for a 240w brick, but it's stable at least. Strong adhesive

Great for a gaming laptop!
Color: Black, Size: 1.37" without hook
Great product is you want to mount any size laptop under your desk. I used it for my Alienware gaming laptop and it's fantastic! The three points of contact hold the laptop securely, while allowing maximum airflow for the fans. The three "clamps" are rock solid and will definitely outlive the laptop. The installation was simple and easy, just need a drill.

under desk laptop system
Color: Black, Size: 1.37" without hook
Reclaimed real desk space with this one. The mount holds the laptop securely underneath without any vibration or creaking and the installation required no drilling — clamped cleanly to the desk edge. The ventilation spacing is generous enough that thermals stay reasonable even under load. Works with a solid range of laptop sizes and the adjustment mechanism is easy to use. If your laptop spends most of its time docked this is the cleanest way to get it out of the way.

Works great, but pads are peeling.
Color: Black, Size: 1.37" without hook
Works for what I needed, which was to mount my work laptop to the side of my desk. However, the rubber pads started peeling the first day. I tried clamping them down overnight, but they still ended up peeling up. They haven't come off completely and are still working, though. I may have to glue them down.
