No More are a band from Kiel, Germany, founded in the summer of 1979. Their music is rooted in early Post Punk / No Wave. No More began as a quartet with Andy A. Schwarz (vocals, guitar, bass), Tina Sanudakura (synthesizers), Christian Darc (drums, vocals) and Thomas Welz (bass, vocals). They self-released their debut 7? four song EP "Too Late" in 1980. The EP was reviewed in the German 'Sounds' magazine as "strangely, archaic music, a brute sound that seems to be recorded with a purposely damaged 4-track".After the departure of Thomas Welz at the end of 1980, No More worked as a trio until the end of 1983. As a trio the band explored musical minimalism and experimented with sequencers, drum synthesizers and rhythm boxes. There were no studios involved in the recording process. All recordings were made in bunkers, laundry rooms, cellars and rehearsal rooms. In 1981 the band released their second single "Suicide Commando". The song spread internationally over the following years and became the band's biggest success. In 1982 No More released the mini-album "A Rose Is A Rose" on 10", described by NME as "made by a trio of young Germans who appear to have fallen out of Lou Reed ´s 'Berlin' album". Songs on this mini-LP convey the desolate and bleak attitude of German youth in the early 1980s. This reissue compiles all 8 tracks from the mini-LP, both tracks from the "Suicide Commando" 7" plus 3 demos from 1982. As a bonus each LP includes the original "Too Late" 7" EP remastered and housed in an exact copy of the original jacket.All songs have been remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The jacket is a replica of the original "A Rose Is A Rose" 10" artwork designed by Stefan Brose, resized for a 12" LP and laid out by Eloise Leigh. Each album includes an 11×14 double-sided, fold-out poster insert with photos and lyrics. As DJ duo Optimo said of "Suicide Commando": "A song that refuses to die. A couple of years after these Germans recorded this it spread like a virus to become a cult classic. The virus is still spreading to this day.

Just Right!

Now in its second edition, this book by Terry G. Carter, J. Scott Duvall, and J. Daniel Hayes lives up to its subtitle: a hands-on approach to preparing, developing, and delivering the sermon. It strikes me as a success because of its clear value as a first textbook for someone learning how to put together a sermon. It does better than most at keeping a big-picture view as it assembles the pieces of the sermon. There are other books that, perhaps, dive deeper into the details – the works of Jerry Vines comes to mind – but this one may be “just right” for a wide array of readers.
The book is divided into three parts: eight chapters on developing and preaching a sermon, three chapters on preaching the New Testament, and four chapters on preaching the Old Testament. Duvall and Hays had earlier produced a hermeneutics textbook entitled Grasping God’s Word, which is also published by Zondervan, so this book assumes an understanding of hermeneutics and goes straight into putting together a sermon after that work has been done.
The first chapter introduces their 11-step sermon process. Chapter 2 covers the first five steps: grasp the meaning of the text in their town, measure the width of the interpretive river, cross the principlizing bridge, consult the biblical map, and grasp the text in our town. As you can see, they word this information in practical terms aimed at our maximum understanding. Again, they avoid being either too shallow or too deep and succeed at being “just right”.
After all that wonderful help for putting the sermon together, the other two parts on the Old and New Testaments look at the genres and their unique challenges for the preacher found in each. Most of these were wonderful. The value of the chapter on preaching Revelation might correspond to your own prophetic viewpoint. Actually, they tell you that that might be the case when you preach the Book of Revelation.
If you’ve been called to preach and are trying to figure out how to put a sermon together, you owe it to yourself to check this book out.

Great reference
Format: Paperback
I used this reference a good but when I was new to practice in a walk-in clinic. From animal bites to corneal abrasions to toenail avulsions, it gave concise treatment recommendations that helped me through my cases. While I need to rely on it a lot less now, I did purchase this to update an older edition and I’ve been equally happy with it

Terrific resource
