Rosendahl Wine Ball by Eva Harlou is a uniquely decorative ball in steel and rubber that conceals a cork screw, bottle opener, wine-bottle stopper and foil cutter.

Eva Harlou wanted to create a product that could be part of a series – for the sake of beauty when designing a living space, and because it’s so nice to have something to collect and to wish for.  The Wine Ball became the natural solution to all of these aims.  The Ball is just that type of complete creation that’s pleasant to look at and to touch.  It radiates calm – and it has all these little surprises when you open it.

At first sight, you do not immediately think of a corkscrew when you look at this rounded wine ball – and the unique design embodies much more than that, too. The round ball houses a corkscrew, wine-bottle stopper, bottle opener and foil cutter.

Its dynamic design and unique shape make it interesting and attractive to leave lying around, and it fits in with the styling of any home. The wine ball is an ideal gift for the wine connoisseur, as the finishing touch to the ultimate well-stocked wine toolbox.

After graduating from the Aarhus School of Architecture in 2003, Eva Harlou (above) found herself playing a key role at Copenhagen architects 3XN, where she managed competition entries and gained a vital understanding of how the architecture world functions.  After working on potential schemes all over Europe, she set up her own studio in 2006, focusing on small-scale residential work as well as giant master plans with the ambition of working on every aspect of the built environment.  In Harlou’s mind architecture is both handcraft and art.  Most of all architecture frames human life.  With architecture comes a great responsibility of trying to understand the human nature.

Her philosophy is that architecture has to be both functional, durable and beautiful.  Furthermore she finds it very important that architecture reveals a clear and understandable concept – tells a simple story.  Eva Harlou doesn’t believe that “less is more," but she enjoys when simple and beautiful geometrical shapes solve all challenges in a project.  Architecture doesn’t have to be difficult and innovative architecture doesn’t have to look like something exploded.  Especially Eva Harlou’s housing-projects have lately drawn a lot of attention. The architecture projects are innovative, genuine and very recognizable with her interpretation of classical geometrical shapes.

In 2014 Eva Harlou also started working in a smaller scale - designing for instance kitchenware, lamps and furniture, and she has an ongoing collaboration with companies such as Rosendahl Design Group A/S and Mater A/S.

Rosendahl

Rosendahl represents beautiful, functional and classic design that is easy to relate to. It is our ambition to create products where it’s not just the design that is interesting, but the story behind it, too.  We focus on innovation in the choice of materials, contrasts, surfaces, and the style remains true to Rosendahl’s design philosophy of making every day beautiful.  We create new stories, both in our in-house design department and through external architects, artists and designers, each of whom contributes their personal style and touch to the unique Rosendahl universe.

Ever since 1984, the Rosendahl Copenhagen brand has been associated with practical, clean-cut design at a reasonable price. Our design philosophy is to create design products that become accessible utility items not reserved for special occasions only. On the contrary, we want them to become an integral part of a more beautiful everyday life. This demands high quality at a sensible price.

Thrilling and illustrated beautifully
Format: Paperback
Do not miss this series if your a Star Wars fan, if your a Vader fan in particular this is a must read comic as it really goes into Vaders early days and his journey to become a true champion of the dark side. Had to put it down on purpose several times so it would not end. Loving my second read of the same volume as well. This book pulls no punches and the writing is much better than I thought it would be. This is one of the few new Marvel comics that can stand tall with the classics and Dark Horses comics. Illustrations are top notch and the story is well thought out.

An origins story of sorts
Format: Paperback
Darth Vader is an angry man. Recently Anakin Skywalker, hero of the Republic, the Chosen One in the eyes of some of the Jedi, he is now a literally broken man, as much machine as human, as result of losing a battle with his former master—and ‘brother’—and left to die along the lava rivers of Mustafar. Worse, he is bereft of his great love, Padme Amidala, and is at least the proximate, if not the direct, cause of her death. So yeah, he has a few things to work out. This first volume of the second DV run from Marvel focuses on how Vader becomes Vader, the Dark Lord of the Sith that strikes fear in the hearts of friend and foe alike. The plot here across the six collected issues is fairly minimal. Having lost his lightsaber to Obi-Wan in the Mustafar fight, he needs a new one, and it needs to a Sith saber, which can only be gotten by taking a saber from a foe and “bleeding” it, by infusing its crystal with all the hate and anger that drives the Sith. In the process, this will turn the crystal’s light red (thus explaining why Sith sabers are the color they are). So, the first three issues are about him acquiring and crafting said saber. The other issues are his rocky introduction to and training of the Inquisitorious, the Emperor’s new Jedi hunters. So, with six issues of not a whole lot of story, does this collection work? To my surprise, yes it does. This is all about emotion, and if there is a standout star, it’s Vader’s rage. His former life gone, crushed and burned in the fires of Mustafar, Vader’s going to forge a new one in the very flames of his anger. Writer Charles Soule has done a fine job in depicting this inner turmoil and translating it into the foundations of the Dark Lord’s new life. Also nicer is artist Giuseppe Camuncoli’s work. The artwork is dynamic—Vader is agile, fluid and skillful —and interesting. It’s good stuff and does a fine job giving us insight to Vader’s state of mind. As I’ve said, there’s not a whole lot of story here, but there is a fine character study of damaged man rebuilding himself into a powerful and formidable individual.
