These words of Jesus are just as applicable today as when they were first spoken, almost two thousand years ago. Christ is the sum and substance of our message―not a footnote. He is the center―not the periphery. His words express challenge and a promise. Jesus knew he would be lifted up on a cross; he also knew his death would reveal God’s love for all the world.
The theme “If I Be Lifted Up . . .” is a challenge to the church. Daily services of the International Convention of the Church of God 1995 will expound the message of lifting up Jesus in today’s world. This book is designed for Bible study groups or personal devotional study. Discussion material is suggested at the end of each chapter. Reading the scripture listed as the text at the beginning of each chapter is imperative. The most preeminent desire of the author is to lift up Jesus Christ and inspire others to respond to this challenge.
