La Charpentrie is a single-vineyard Chenin Blanc from Brézé in Saumur, grown on limestone-rich tuffeau soils and vinified with minimal intervention. The 2021 vintage in a break from the excessively hot vintages immediately before and after, is classically styled, highlighting the wine’s intense mineral expression with mouth-watering freshness and tension. Foucault’s wines are some of the most sought-after in the Loire, with tiny production and cult-level demand. La Charpentrie represents Chenin Blanc at its most refined: mineral, age-worthy, and profound.
The 2021 La Charpentrie Blanc is laser focused with strong mineral expression that runs completely through the wine, with notes of citrus, quince, and stone fruits layered over chalk, and subtle honeycomb (the stuff bees make, not the cereal!) notes. The palate is tense and precise, with electric acidity and a long, long rich finish.
