Notes
"In Volo" is an album that offers one of the most complete exhibitions of the expressive possibilities of the solo sax. Moving from tenor, to alto, to soprano, Roberto Favaro offers us a kaleidoscope of multifaceted and multicolored sounds that take us by the hand and accompany us on an absolutely fascinating musical journey. But also engaging, thanks to a sound recording that guarantees direct entry into the large Hall A of the MagisterArea studio in Preganziol, which with its natural reverberations helps to create the different and most suitable atmospheres for each interpreted piece. But let's leave the most heartfelt description of the project to the direct words of the interpreter and author Roberto Favaro:
"Over the years, through various experiences and musical collaborations, I have realized that the boundaries and labels of various musical genres are less rigid than they may seem, and so I have developed my own idea of contemporary music, or at least what it means to me. I intend to give a broader meaning to the definition of contemporary music in order to expand the concept of contemporaneity to the music of our time which, regardless of the type of musical writing, captures and expresses the moods, the various influences and contaminations between the styles of our era, making us experience the music of the present. A flight with open arms through the last forty years of Italian music, touching on some of the compositions that I feel closest to me, both for the relationship with melody that I have always sought over the years, and for the collaboration with the composers of the selected pieces, which allowed me to feel them closer to my way of playing. Among my compositions, I have chosen those that in my opinion express these concepts, from the descriptive "In volo" to the blues influences of "Sale Blu" and the contemporary style of "Improvvisamente... Niente...", thus completing the journey through sensations, emotions, and music without stylistic boundaries."

Roberto Favaro, graduated in Saxophone and Jazz, specialized with M. Mazzoni, M. Marzi and F. Mondelci, also attended jazz courses by P. Tonolo and C. Fasoli and obtained a second level academic diploma with an interpretative and compositional focus. Winner of National and International Competitions, he performs in duo with piano, with the saxophone and accordion formation "DUOduemilaDUE" with which he recorded the piece "Figure in movimento su sfondo bruno" by Mario Pagotto, with the saxophone quartet "Aliseo" and with the Saxophone Ensemble "Hallo Mr. Sax!" directed by Mario Marzi with whom he recorded the eponymous CD and the CD "Gershwin". He has participated in numerous classical and contemporary music festivals including, "Biennale Musica" in Venice with the orchestra directed by M.tro S. Bussotti and with IRCAM in Paris, the 14th World Saxophone Congress in Ljubljana, at Le Centre de Musique et d'Art and the American University of Beirut. He participated in the "Itinerari Jazz" festival in Trento collaborating with the singer Noa and with the Laboratorio Orchestra directed by M.tro Giancarlo Gazzani. He collaborates with various musical groups and orchestras including, the Filarmonia Veneta Orchestra also as a soloist, the National Symphony Orchestra of R.A.I. in Turin with which he made television and radio recordings, the Orchestra of the Teatro La Scala in Milan, the Turin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Teatro G. Verdi in Trieste, the Orchestra of the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Orchestra of the Teatro Regio in Turin, the Orchestra of Padua and Veneto and the Orchestra of the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, directed, among others, by Maestros L. Berio, G. Pretre, D. Robertson, D. Oren, F. Shipway and I. Karabtchevsky. With the Ricatti Ensemble, a group with which he recorded the CDs "Ricatti Ensemble", "Suites", "Ad ore piene" and "Che ne sarà", he performs in various settings, from theatre to dance, from concerts to street performances. He has composed several pieces for solo sax and thematic music based on poems by Hikmet. He is a saxophone teacher at the "G. Martucci" Conservatory in Salerno and in 2014 he was invited to hold a Masterclass at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in Antwerp.

An essential classic
Format: Paperback
The book has a scathing view of nobility and the upper class, with the regular people just a part of the scenery, so an allegory that has aged well and applies to modern times. I think it's an essential read to anyone who enjoys literature, as it can be argued that it's the genesis of many themes in modern stories.

Not bad, but still had flaws
Format: Paperback
While the novel was great in a way, I felt that it was outdated to me. It was written in the time that anti-heros were poorly made and if the creator of Reynard was aiming for Anti-hero when developing Reynard, he missed and hit sociopath instad. The pictures in the books are also outdated and laughable in our times. Reynard looks more like a shaved dog on the cover, I had a hard time identifying Noble the lion in his photos, ect. and the ending did`nt seem fullfilling though I felt a kick of excitment a few times.

Nice translation
Format: Paperback
It is not easy to translate poetry into poetry. It's bad enough simply trying to translate to prose. Ms. Terry does an excellent job. I read Le Roman de Renart in French while I was studying in France. Years later, I came across this translation. It is fascinating the way the original storytellers portrayed Renart. He is a completely hateful creature. Yet reading about him is fun. It's similar to how I feel about stories of Loki or Coyote. Renart is closer to Loki than to Coyote, despite the canine ancestry. He is more than simply a trickster: he is malevolent. If you have an interest in ancient folktales, you mustn't miss the story of Renart. This translation is different from any other I've read. The introduction gives a good perspective on the times when the stories were hatched.

Pretty good translation into English. Far from a complete collection, but certainly a good foundation.
