The L333  King Tiger Pleco (Hypancistrus sp.) is a member of the Loricariidae family of South American suckermouth catfishes.  Its entire body is covered in black and white or yellow “maze-like” stripes, making it a very striking fish for the planted or nano aquarium.  Like many plecos, the King Tiger Pleco has generally been a wild-caught species, but we are proud to be among the first stores to offer tank-raised juveniles at a much lower cost than wild-caught specimens!
A generally peaceful and hardy species, the King Tiger Pleco is an excellent, undemanding candidate for most aquariums. Unlike the widely-seen Common Pleco (Hypostomus plecostomus) and Trinidad Pleco (Hypostomus punctatus), which easily reach a monstrous size of 18 to 20+ inches (45 to 51+ cm), the King Tiger Pleco grows to a size of only 5.5 to 6.3 inches (13.75 to 15.75 cm).
This smaller size makes for a much more manageable (and less messy) pleco that can thrive permanently in a well-maintained aquarium as small as 40 gallons.  Male plecos may be somewhat territorial with other males of their species, but disputes can usually be diffused by providing ample territory and hiding places for each fish.
All other fish tankmates will be generally ignored, although it is likely that dwarf shrimp will fall prey to the King Tiger Pleco.  However, ornamental snails will not be bothered and large Amano, Green Lace, Flower, and Vampire Shrimp are generally unthreatened by the King Tiger Pleco.  Please note that this fish requires a significantly warmer temperature than many other fish and invertebrates.  Some shrimp will not thrive in these high temperatures.
The King Tiger Pleco is primarily nocturnal, but will often become active during daytime hours once established in an aquarium with plenty of driftwood, rockwork, and other hiding places.  It is not known to eat wood heavily like some plecos (Panaque sp., etc.), but it may benefit from some supplementary wood (or bio-film on driftwood).
The King Tiger Pleco will not bother most plants and it is not an effective algae eater
Feed the King Tiger Pleco a diet heavy in both meaty and vegetable matter, including high-quality vegetable flakes, sinking algae wafers, and pellets.  It will also appreciate being fed some fresh vegetables such as shelled peas, spinach, zucchini, and cucumber.  Meaty foods such as bloodworms are definitely necessary for this species, especially in comparison to some other “pleco” species.  This species requires a well-maintained aquarium with moderate to high water flow in order to thrive.
What We Like About This Fish:
  • The King Tiger Pleco is an extremely beautiful and very peaceful, hardy addition to almost any aquarium.
  • At a maximum size of 5.1 to 6 inches, this is a very practical and manageable fish.
  • This fish will not bother most plants.  It will also scavenge and consume most uneaten fish food.
  • The King Tiger Pleco is an aquarium fish with a unique appearance as well as plenty of personality.

Revelation for the serious Bible student
Format: Hardcover
The most complete discussion of Revelation I have read. Be aware it is written in a very academic style, so not for casual reading.

Interesting!
Format: Hardcover
I was surprised to see Schreiner in Revelation. I unfairly had him as a Paul guy only in my mind. It turned out those skills that he is well known for on Paul are found here. This commentary is, without doubt, a major work on Revelation. It walks in the room and joins the big boys. But just like the other champions of the modern major academic, exegetical commentaries this one takes an “eclectic” viewpoint. That’s the rage of the hour. Doesn’t make anyone too happy, but then again not too angry either. Like me, you may not take an eclectic approach but rather a specific viewpoint in one of the major categories. Will you still be helped by this commentary? I think you definitely will. What are its strengths? Impeccable scholarship stands out. Sometimes that’s a pile of dry bones, but here it has life. Here the scholarly “interacting” pays off. It begins in the Introduction and continues in the commentary proper. Here the interaction necessarily involves the different perspectives and that enlightens no matter where you come from. Another asset of this commentary is its tone. He fairly represents other viewpoints and humbly assesses and shares his own. I often don’t exactly agree, but he’s easy to follow. It’s easy for me to weigh as I’m looking at a fairly represented picture. I wouldn’t call the structure of Revelation as a whole a strength here. Perhaps that’s the collateral damage of an eclectic position, though he gives a serviceable outline. He does give, however, some nice thoughts on structure in the smaller periscopes. I’m convinced he sheds light in each passage no matter your overall prophetic outlook. Outside of one that lines up perfectly for you (rare), what more could you ask for? I received this book free from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

A Highly Anticipated Revelation Commentary!
Format: Hardcover
Tom Schreiner is one of my favorite New Testament Bible commentators. Having used his Romans commentary (now in its second edition), as well as his commentaries on 1 Corinthians and 1-2 Peter and Jude, I recommend him highly! I read much of his shorter commentary on Revelation in the ESV Expository Commentary series, and found it to be a wonderful help to get my bearings on this challenging book. This full length Baker commentary I have been anticipating for several years and finally have gotten a copy. While I am not persuaded of his rather novel (and newly held!) view on the Millenium, called New Creation Millenialism, I find his basic approach to the book a wonderful antidote to both the more Dispensational and the more preterist approaches to the book. Schreiner's arguments that Revelation is highly symbolic and recursive (non-linear/recapitulatory) I have found extremely persuasive and greatly affect how one reads the Apocalypse.
