Aus Siebenbürgen zum Kilimanjaro – Jagden in Afrika von August Roland von Spiess verbindet jagdliche Erlebnisse aus Europa und Afrika zu einem persönlichen Reisebericht zwischen zwei völlig unterschiedlichen Wildlandschaften. Ausgangspunkt sind ausgedehnte Jagdreisen in Siebenbürgen und weiteren Regionen Europas, die schließlich bis nach Ostafrika führen.

Beschrieben werden der Wechsel von vertrauten mitteleuropäischen Revieren hin zu afrikanischen Landschaften sowie die damit verbundenen neuen Eindrücke von Tierwelt, Klima und jagdlicher Praxis. Dabei entsteht ein Vergleich unterschiedlicher Lebensräume und Jagdkulturen.

Im Verlauf der Schilderungen tritt das Erleben von Natur und Wild stärker in den Vordergrund als das Streben nach Beute, geprägt von Beobachtung, Wahrnehmung und dem Kontrast zwischen zwei Kontinenten.
